FKSH SHELTER
On 5 November 2020, tragedy struck Furrykids Safehaven when a devastating flash flood inundated our shelter in Mambau. Within hours, floodwaters rose to dangerous levels, claiming the lives of 54 dogs and leaving our team heartbroken.
Faced with the reality that the site was no longer safe, we made the difficult but necessary decision to relocate. In a remarkable effort driven by determination and hope, we successfully moved 400 rescued dogs to a new shelter on higher ground in Kuala Sawah on 1 January 2021.
What began as a response to disaster has since grown into something extraordinary. Today, Furrykids Safehaven proudly stands on 6.7 acres of land and is home to more than 2,000 rescued dogs. From the darkest chapter in our history emerged a stronger, safer sanctuary where thousands of animals have been given a second chance at life.
Our journey is a testament to resilience, compassion, and the unwavering belief that every life is worth fighting for.
Furrykids Safehaven is now spread across 6.7 acres of land in Negeri Sembilan and serves as a sanctuary for over 2,000 rescued dogs. The shelter has been carefully designed to accommodate dogs of different ages, sizes, medical conditions, and behavioural needs while prioritising animal welfare, disease control, and quality of life.

Platform 1 serves as one of the shelter's primary housing areas and includes:

30 Quarantine Kennels specifically designed to minimise cross-contamination and support disease control protocols.

24 Large Kennels for long-term housing of rescued dogs.

10 Boarding Kennels used for temporary accommodation and special management cases.

Multiple Free-Roaming Zones that allow dogs to exercise, socialise, and enjoy enrichment activities.
Platform 2 is dedicated to larger groups of dogs and those requiring additional care and space.

2 Extra-Large Kennels specially designed for disabled and special-needs dogs.

5 Extra-Large Kennels for larger dog populations.

Dedicated Free-Roaming Zones that provide ample space for exercise and social interaction.
PLATFROM 2B

Platform 2B focuses on disease management and controlled housing.

10 Isolation Kennels used for dogs requiring medical observation or separation from the general population.

Adjacent Free-Roaming Zones for controlled outdoor access when appropriate.

Platform 3 consists primarily of open housing arrangements.

10 Large Free-Roaming Zones designed to provide dogs with greater freedom of movement and a more natural living environment.

To ensure the dogs remain comfortable in all weather conditions, Platform 3 is equipped with multiple purpose-built sheds strategically located throughout the area.

These sheds provide shelter from rain, heat, and harsh weather while offering resting and sleeping spaces for the dogs.

The combination of open spaces and sheltered structures allows dogs to choose between outdoor activity and protected resting areas throughout the day.
